Sierra based, drum brake cable clip

Hi all I’m having trouble with my hand brake, so thought I would take the cable off the shoes and remove it from the rear back plate. There is a u-clip that hold the cable into the back plate, mine has rotted away so went to local ford garage, they printed off a diagram and I pointed to what I thought was the clip. Ford no longer do the clip, I have asked at other motor factors and they said Ford only. Has anyone come across this clip and does anyone know where I may get some from, or an alternative clip I could use.

Thank Steve

The first picture is what is left of the clip. The other two pictures are of the hole and the hand brake cable coming though the hole. The clip holds the hand brake cable in the hole

Thanks Steve

OK i cannot see the photo's, help how to place photo's

Pretty sure thats on the cable too.

Doing a search and only usefull thing I have found so far is a mk2 escort clutch cable.http://www.ebay.co.u...=item1c1e93c76c

And a handbrake cable for £25.http://www.ebay.co.u...=item5d2f465440

This pic shows the backplate end a bit more clearly.Although this is listed as cossie and thus disc rears I think it is a drum cable. Could be wrong.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RS-Cosworth-4wd-Sierra-Handbrake-Cable-/150680484206?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item231541b96e

Thanks for the replies. Ford said it's an seperate order so would not come with the cable and iv'e e-mailed one of the people selling the cable and they have said it's not with the cable. May just buy a cable and see what turns up.

difficult to make it out from that part. but im sure it comes on the cable itself

Agreed, the first image looks like a small 3 pronged clip that comes on the cable. However, this fits into a cylindrical piece that's part of the brake backplate that I can't see in your other photos that ensures that the cable passes through the backplate at an angle.

This isn't a Sierra backplate but it's similar, the cable goes in the gold coloured bit to the right of the label

Hi richyb66 that's correct the piece i'm after is a 3 prong clip. This photo has the bit that goes into the back plate and the 3 prong clip was on the smaller shaft and was then pushed into the back plate, Thanks Steve
