Hi

Just wondered if anyone has made up the brackets to mount the alternator onto a 2.0 blacktop. I have the idler wheel, and a small alternator and wanted to know if anyone with wleding skills could knock one up for me??

Dont really want to shell out on the GBS alternator kit as that amount of money put else where will probably finish the car off.

if anyone can help please let me know

Thanks

Hi Andy

Yes I have, I will have to look for some photos. I used a piece of 3" ? aluminum angle and some aluminum blocks. these stiffened the angle and provided the big bolt mounting that the alternator fits on at the bottom. A simple angle bracket at the top to the inlet manifold stud. I did find a Pug adjuster to use on the other side. I chopped up the aircon / power steering mounting casting and bolted all the bits together.

personally the alternator kit from GBSC is fairly priced and fits perfectly. personally i would believe it would be money well spent and would add to "finishing the car off" as it looks neat and as i already said things just slot into place. unless you can weld and make the brackets your self, i would go for the kit. i did, and it made life 100 times easyer.
