Sierra Handbrake Modification

Hi, i have a 2b with a passenger floor mounted handbrake, standard sierra lever. I would like to keep it there but have it vertical. Can i modify the sierra lever? Or do i have to get a new lever and if so which one would you recommend. Any pic's would be great thanks

Here's a link to an earlier post on this subject.

My solution is on post number 11, it has a few pics of how to modify the Sierra handbrake lever for mounting on the tunnel side.

The only modification to the handbrake was to cut & re-weld the mounting holes so that they are all flat and not 'dog legged'.

There was an additional fulcrum fabricated to allow for the re-positioning and a extension plate to utilise the original hole in the floor for connecting to the handbrake cable.

There was additional strengthening added to the tunnel side (a 5mm thick spreader plate which also aligned with the modified holes on the handbrake.

The pics explain it better......

This was completed prior to IVA and passed with no problems.

Hope this helps

Good luck

Al

Looking at the photo's it still pulls horizontally.

The fulcrum has the 90' lever instead of the lever going straight down.

It looks like the upside down back to front L under the triangley bit.
