Hi guys, Im new to forum and have been looking at some Robin Hoods as well as a few other cars. I was thinking of taking on a 2B that was never completed and has been lying up for a number of years. (I don't know which version but probably sliding pillar).

As it was never completed and registered / IVA'd I am wondering if it is possible to get the car through an IVA (assuming I follow the build manual and videos). it have a 2.0L pinto will this be OK for IVA?

If there are any serious areas which need attention / modification / strengthening can you let me know what they are?

Thanks for any help.

Hi If you are building from pretty much from Scratch then the 2B should get through IVA without any major issues providing you build within the IVA manual recommendations (you can always change back to what you actually want after IVA!) Plus much easier to submit the car without a windscreen for the test...Again this can be fitted after.

The only real issue I had was that they stated the lower seat belt moiunts eeded to be further back than what the 2B was designed fr, so I had to make a slight modification to move these.

With regards the Sliding pillar, providing you do them correctly and follow some guidelines that I have previously posted (search my posts for sliding pillar) then these should perform pretty good. However if you have the chassis at a stripped down stage it might be worth considering doing a wishbone upgrade (GBS can supply this but quite expensive if I recall). This will transform the cars handling. Don't let this put you off however as a well set up sliding pillar arrangement can still perform pretty well (mine put a few modern wish boned cars to shame at timed sprints a few years back).

Good luck with the build.

I took another look and think the car is a S7 Mk2. It is pretty rough but has most if not all parts. I would be stripping down and re-building. At the minute the main running gear is installed. Bearing in mind I would need to strip and re-build and will undoubtedly need to buy some bits. Any idea of approx. value?

Also I know the mk2 is a lot older - would it go through IVA or is there a post on the site detailing the additional works required to get it through the IVA.

Thanks guys.

Right - this is a strange one - I just though I know of a 2b rolling chassis for sale - could it be built up using the S7 mark 2 parts, body work etc. Is it compatible

or even practical?

Yes I guess it would be possible as they pretty much use the same donor parts.

Reckon 80-90% of parts should be transferable without too much hassle. The Duck or any other S7 builder willl be able to say for definate. I think only a few iyems would not be transferable.

The running gear would transfer over, you may be able to use the nose cone and rear arches with a bit of modification, and maybe the bonnet? Scuttle possibly as well. The rest of the body panels on the s7 are actually the chassis though and so couldnt be used.
