Snapped Clutch Cable

Is the pedal end free to move and not get twisted or move on an un natural curve ?

My cable is 11 years old and still going strong.

I'll second that. Mine snapped because the 'Tricky Dicky' method of attaching the cable puts a sideways strain on it and an unnatural curve. Once the mounting was changed so the cable is free to move transversly, no more problems. (Still have a spare in the boot of course). All discussed at http://the-superspec-journey.blogspot.co.uk/2013/12/the-clutch-cable.html

Sorry to say the new cable, fixed the same way as the old will last just as well as the old ones. The mounting method is faulty causing fatigue failure. It needs to be mounted in line with the outer and with a fixing that allows rotation or better, an aligned quadrant. Otherwise you are just building in repeated failure.
