Got a couple of options,

http://www.oldstation-masham.co.uk Is well serviced and offers usual toilets/showers/electric, plus tents (small x 10) and some nice 'BBQ cabins'. current prices are around £25/night for a pitch. They suggest any weekend in June other than 24th as this is the White Bear Beer Festival and they are already well booked for this one - not ruled out, but may be limited availability. It is about a mile and a half from Masham (two miles on the way back!) with footpath all the way.

One of my firefighter buddies has a large field set up for caravan rallies (or rather his father does). It is in Thornton Watlass which is sort of half way between Bedale and Masham. THe village has a nice pub which does food (Buck Inn). It is more basic, but we would get the site just for us and it is big (they use it for taking off and landing micro lights when not full of caravans!). Plenty of electric hook up and access to water and an elsan point, but no toilet or showers - that said probably £10/night and we can be less worried about impact on the neighbours - not looked but we may be able to hire a mobile shower/toilet block? I saw the site today and it really is quite big - plenty of space to spread out and for kids and dogs to run about.

Welcome everyones thoughts, plus also what you would want to do over the weekend. Lots of runs out (short and/or long?), brewery trip/s, evening BBQs?

Easy reach runs,

- Wensleydale

- Nidderdale

Longer runs

- Swaledale

- Yorkshire Moors

- Malham (eg Cove - with a bit of walking)

- Skipton

- Upper Wharfedale (Kettlewell, Starbotton etc)

Attractions

- Druids Temple - near Masham, follies, nice walk

- Hackfall Woods - near Masham, follies, nice longer walk

- Breweries (2 in Masham)

- Brymor Icecream

- Hawes Cheese

- Market towns (Masham, Bedale, Ripon, Leyburn, Pateley Bridge, Hawes, Richmond)

- Aysgarth Falls

- Hardraw Falls (access through pub!)

- Wensleydale railway

The big field option appeals to Jean & I as we could bring the caravan. I'm sure we could arrange showers & toilets facilities with the expertise we have in the club. Interesting plumbing exercise hooking my caravans internal hot water boiler to an external shower. Where's Kenny Brough?

Anything Ian just pick a date and let us know. Re trips - Just my thoughts - I would avoid too much walking as there will be people not geared up and I am lazy!!!. Brewery trip is a must on 1 day and another long run out perhaps.. Perhaps a Friday and Sat with peeps departing on Sunday AM?? Brewery on Friday for those that can make it.

Thanks for volunteering :)
