I unpacked the clutch release bearing (type 9 box) and its cracked, the crack doesn't look critical to operation but:

1. This gets embedded in the heart of the mechanics so if it does fail its trouble to replace
2. It was probably damaged in transit/storage in the garage -but- could easily be a faulty part too

What do you think?

My current thinking is its worth the <£50 spend to get another one & not chance it.

a clutch thrust has no business being made of plastic, bin it and get a metal one.

Lots seem to be made of plastic these days but it is a high % glass filling. Looks like its been dropped at some time.

it clips on on the grooves at 9 +3 on that pic..that damage has no strength. imo

if your worried get hold of a bearing only shouldlnt be hard to get hold of.
Understeer , when the front hits a wall
Oversteer, when the back hits a wall
Horsepower ,how fast you hit the wall
Torque ,how far you take the wall with you.

the plastic bit is just the backing to slide on the input shaft, the front of the bearing is in metal,I have just changed mine looks the same as posted, as long as the chip /crack does not go through it should be OK

Is it possible to tell the part number from the pic?
its around 22mm from the front/pressure face to the backs of the tabs & 32mm thick overall
marked: 000-74

Otherwise my options are back to GBS Kitspares, or local motor factors (I dont have a part number though)

Thanks ickle,  I'm not sure exactly of the part though -  i.e. this was part of the kit from GBS.

I'm fitting to a type 9 / Zetec 2.0 combination
