Hi all.

I am about to embark on a trip to Venice in my 2B,  I have some european breakdown cover with Axa Assistance, through my insurance with Sureterm Direct. What i would like to know is:-
1. Does any one have this cover too?
2. Has anyone needed their assistance?
3. What was the level of service like?
4. What other breakdown companies are worth considering?
5. What do you guys have to cover yourselves when going to Le Mans?

Any help would be appreciated

John

I can only answer to questio No 5.
I asked the RAC about it, and they wanted £50+ for a weeks cover, I told them to get stuffed! as we were travelling in a group, we sorted out our own problems.

I Took Out RAC Last year, as I'm a member anyway, but yes the £50 did seem a bit steep, I was tavelling alone tho' so I was good peace of mind. But the thought of some Froggy mechanic turning up and giviing gaelic, or should that be garlic, shrugs at the sight of a hood wasn't quite so reasuring!!!  But she ran like a dream, only prob being the GF broke the sidescreen.

Apart from the possibility of requiring recovery back to UK, you should find that any half decent garage should be able to sort out the mechanical side of your car. Apart from the body it is all (mostly any way) Ford Sierra and there have been enough of those through out Europe over the last 20 years.

Think positive - you built the car with tender loving care and attention to the finest detail - She wont let you down ! !

Send us a report of your journey in to Peter Knight for the Mag to peter@rhocar.org and share your experiences (good or bad)

Best of luck for the trip
