I have had problems with my 2b ever since I bought it roughly 6 weeks. I thought the engine had a lot of compression and the starter was finding it hard to turn over. Today I replaced the starter motor and no change. I replaced the battery and no change. locked at the connections all look ok. Cleaned all earth terminals. No change. voltage is 12.8 volts and turning over is 11.3 volts. turning over is very slow / hardly turning??????

Hi All, My car has been off the road to a good few years but now have some space and time to bring it back to life! I'm steadily striping checking and replacing if needed, worn/perished parts and i can't for the life of me remember what the top and bottom coolant hoses came from, and they need replacing - I have the standard cortina rad. does anyone have any ideas please? Thanks

Hello togethe, I've a hot start problem with my Robin Hood. When I get the engine on 80° Celsius and turn it of, I have to wait about 10 minutes to restart it. Normaly it's not a graet Problem, but when I stopp at a Gas station to refuel, I had also to wait. Mostly I have to push the car away from the gas pump. That's not so funny. Has or had anybody the same problem, or could fix it? Thank you and greatings form the very warm Germany Gerhard

My throttle cable snapped (Zetec blacktop) recently and I bought a new one from GBS. When I came to fit it, it seems to have changed - below is a pic of roughly the throttle body I have (that is not mine - its a random pic off the internet) and, on the new cable, that yellow bit is longer, as shown by the red extension I've drawn on: This means I have much less travel than before. I have tried fixing (read 'hacked to pieces') the plastic end on the right of that pic to get more space but it hasn't worked. I thought about trimming down that yellow bit (on mine, it is metal) but I can't see me being able to dremel it without hitting the cable below. Now…

Sorry to be panicky but I'm supposed to be going to Wales at the weekend for 5 days and I've just ruined my car!! All I did was re-jig the throttle cable at the body end (if you saw my other post) and now it won't run properly. I haven't changed the length of the cable or anything else, just found a way to stop it dropping out the slot. I did also clean out the HP fuel filter - it's clear so I can see fuel going through it. I started up and car wouldn't run without a decent amount of throttle. I had the Emerald software up and it showed nothing in the map! (I have had a trickle charger on but would that wipe the map from the ECU?). I loaded up the map but h…

Another quick question, having run my engine for the first time just a couple of hours ago - which was a BIG moment and all seemed okay, apart from it being a bit noisy due to manifold/silencer issues. My fan is front mounted to the radiator and it seems to be 'pulling' air from the engine out towards the grille when my feeling is it should be doing the opposite! Could anyone online please confirm. Thanks in advance

Another query I have as I try to get ready for my IVA. My radiator cap is rated 10psi and the one supplied by GBS on the new thermostat housing is rated 20psi. Presumably, the system will only work correctly if these are rated the same - my question being, which one would I be best advised to change? I would appreciate anyone's thoughts/comments before I order one. Thanks in advance.

I am trying to finish off my GBS Zero (Ford Zetec) build which goes for IVA in a couple of weeks time. A quick question about fitting the throttle cable as I have read a number of blogs on the subject which show bits being cut off etc etc. I have the GBS plenum fitted with standard Ford throttle body and my feeling, having worked on this today, is it seems to work best fitted as per my attached picture i.e I get full throttle movement and adjustment! My worry is, I can't seem to find any reference to anyone else fitting it like this (upside down on the bracket to all the pictures I can find). Am I missing something? Would appreciate any thoughts/c…

Does anyone know the correct torque settings for a 1984, 1993 Pinto head. I have tried the net and had various options.

Hi, I am currently assembling a RH2B. As part of the build I am installing a 1999/2000 Honda S2000 engine. I have the engine installed, but I also have a million wires I am having trouble untangling. I have had a first filter to get rid of wires for electric windows etc, so think I have a minimum set. But need help to get them together. Is there anybody out there who has done a similar project and can advise as to the best way to proceed? Thanks, Peter

It's not running right I thought it was a carb but set that back to base level screw all the way in then back out 2 turns, but even with that it's still banging & popping, refusing to rev up. So I thought I'd check the timing, read it ought to be around 8 degrees, when I checked it assuming I did i right it's had 40 degrees of advance, I'm managed to pull it back to 32 degrees but now the wiring is hitting the engine. Looks like I'll have to swap the leads back a hole & try it again tomorrow, but can you just sensecheck my logic. Engine turns clockwise, there are markings on the crank pulley, they appear to be the first mark 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 & the last …

Progressively my starter motor has increasingly become worse at engaging and starting the engine. when I try to start it, I can hear it running but doesn’t engage the engine. Try maybe 5 more times and eventually it engages and starts. You can hear it is spinning freely without any catch or grinding against the teeth. I took the starter off and ran it out the engine as in the video and you can see it pop forward and spin. All the teeth look fine on both the starter and those that I can see on the fly wheel. ive taken a video of it running as linked below. I notice there a plastic washer type thing the starter Spindle pushes again…

I have a Ford Pinto 1993cc engine in my Exmo. The engine smoked when first starting, and after reading the forums I thought the valve seals had gone. With my IVA less than two weeks away I thought I would change them as I was running out iof time. I thought I would repalce the seals without removing the head. I bought the tool esecially for it, and after watching u tube video's Proceded to remove the spark plugs and insert rope into the cylinder. After turning the engine by hand to compress the rope against the valves, I changed all the seals and felt very pleased with myself. When I came to start the engine, it rattled like hell. Double checked the valve clear…

I think my Starter motor is on its way out or it is not powerful enough to turn engine over. I was going to replace it with a high torque starter motor. I do not know what type of gearbox I have joined onto my 2.0 Pinto? How do I find out which I have? Thanks Tony
