Awwww 'HC' rings a bell, but i may be clutching at straws!! Thank you, I'll PM tomorrow. Once decoded i'm assuming that wont indicate what the enigne is?? i.e.x-flow, pinto??

with twin carbs on a 1300, i'm guessing crossflow. 1300 pintos were as rare as rockinghorse *bleep*, and most frequently junked for 2.0s.

Crossflows have teh middle two exhaust ports right next to each other, and the outer two right on the ends of the engine, a pintos are equally spaced.

If your brother is fitting a Cossie lump he'll need the engine loom to suit so will have no use for the existing pinto engine wiring so just make sure he removes it carefully and then you can splice it into the 1300's. It shouldn't be too much of a problem as the pinto wiring's pretty simple

Cool, I'll check with him tonight and report back if that's OK guys. He's def removed the exisiting loom though as he's using the Cossie loom, so his 2l loom can be salvaged!

I may need some help in which wires to use if the 2l is a points version. All i know is his has 4 ht leads going into the dizzy, and one from the dizzy to the coil!!

Shouldn't be too hard then... Sounds like a regular dizzy setup which is what the crossflow will have. Maybe a couple of small changes if it's the "module" later type. (see the different types in the build tips on http://nw.rhocar.org )

You'll probably not have to change much at all from your original loom.

What gearbox do you have? Type 9 5 speed? You will have to double check your clutch as the 1.3 Crossflow would presumably use a much smaller one... Also possible you have the older gearbox out of an Escort too but "probably" not prob a 4 or 5 speed type 9.

Best to put a new clutch in anyhow or use your brothers, presumably the Cossie one is heavy duty so he'll need a new one anyway...

Dan :)
