Hello nice people

Having troubles with vibration on my cycle wings, and specifically how to stop the screws all loosening up. One in particular doesnt seem to want to play. Got rid of the self tapper that came with the car and drilled and tapped to get a perfect fixing, but alas still too much vibration - can anyone tell me how the hell to stop this problem before the wheelarches actually shatter??

Diagram attached of what i;m on about...

Cheers!

Use Threadlock. If you go to a specialist they will be able to give you a strong one that should not come apart unless you really want it to. (The type of stuff they use on press machine tools for example).

You'll need a strong one because the wall thickness of the tube isn't very thick, you won't have many threads holding it.

242 or 243 (blue) is what OE car manufacturers use. You could even go up to 246 or something...

I used 246 to try to hold in place the two set screws I had fixing each section of tube in place. They just came undone all the time. So I drilled right through and fitted M6 bolts with nylocks. They don't move now. I took one side apart last tuesday and I had to use an oxyacetalene torch to encourage it to come apart. A lump hammer wasn't enough!

Before any smart a*se pipes up I did take the fixing bolts out *before* trying to get it apart.
