Anti Theft Device

I am just wondering what other builders have used as an anti theft device and is one compulsary for sva

yeah it is compulsory for SVA. and i quote,

 

"...can be mechanical, such as a steering wheel lock, or electrical, both providing that it is in addition to the ignition switch. you must not be able to start the engine with the device set or engange it whilst the engine is running, neither must it act on the braking or steering."

 

So if your using the sierra steering column, it alreadsy exists! otherwise a standard immobiliser will be fine:D

Mine passed with an ignition switch & a battery isolator, no steering lock.

if you use a battery isolator dont mount it on the dash as itll fail the radius test!

I had thought of a pneumatic piston mounted retractable bayonet through the seat base activated by a pressure switch but SVA advised that this might fail due to sharp edges! Shame.

Fraid so. It was supposed to castrate the scrotes trying to pinch my car not dissembowel them. Trials went a bit wrong.

The isolator or the bayonet??

 

If the isolator mine is mounted on the bulkhead under the dash on passenger side. It's simply inserted in series (straight line) in the main negative feed from Battery to body I believe. (can't check from here)....

 

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

 

Most come with instructions anyhow.
