Next week I need to order a custom propshaft to join a Rover LT77 gearbox to the sierra diff.

I am sure plenty of you have bought custom props before and can offer me advice and recomentation on suppliers. :)

Might be worth talking to Robin Hood as i know they have a propshaft machine there. If you give them the end that goes in the box and tell them how long i bet they would knock one up for you.

My dad has the exact same thing your talking about on his hood as it has the 3.9 Rover V8, LT77 gearbox and sierra rear diff and i think his was a custom from robin hood although it was a long time ago so i'm not sure.

Its going to take a fair bit of power so use one of the propshaft specialists. Ring them to discuss it. They will want you to specify the gearbox and the differential it has to mate to, if there should be a sliding section and the amount of power likely to be put through it. They will tell you how they want you to measure the length. (For instance with a type 9 to sierra differential this is the forward face of the diff flange to rearmost surface of the gearbox output shaft.) They will have and fit the correct ends front and back to mate up so when it is delivered you just bolt it on. You shouldn't need to supply any bits apart from the required specifications.

Try Leeds Tool & Gauge Co Ltd in Leeds (0113 571694). All i had to do was to tell them was the length of prop needed and that it was RV8 to Granada. Didn't need to supply any flanges or old props etc.

£156 delivered but i did order via the kit manufacturer (Pilgrim). you might be able to get it cheaper if you contact them direct.
