Car For Sale On Ebay

Both Tim & Enforcer are right.

What I meant but worded badly is:

a. It's unfair for anyone to "expect" Enforcer to take this on just because he's a cop. Why should he? Any of us could report it to relevant authorities.

b. It's unfair on Warwick for this to get preferential attention with the authorities (if Enforcer decided to take it on as a pet project) just because he happens to be on here. Equally Enforcer could follow his "civic" duty & submit it to the correct authorities in the same as anyone else but not take advantage of his position to escalate it.

Personally I am not in a position to do anything. If some people want to take this to the authorities then that's fine, but there must be a correct & legal procedure to follow.

I would suggest that if any police involvement it should be with the local police force not Enforcer living hundreds of miles away.

Yes, I agree it would be very unfair to a potential buyer who didn't understand what they were getting. Just in case anyone doesn't know, it's possible to send a message to the people who are bidding on something through Ebay without the seller knowing..... I have quietly tipped off a couple of people in my time who were being ripped off. Some are grateful, some think you are interfering & just trying to make them pull out. ;)

Thanks Derek, Dan

Any investigation into this (assuming there would be one) would be at the hands of Devon & Cornwall Police, DVLA and the relevant Local Authority - no question of me having any involvement.

Rhocar is my place of R&R ^_^ ..... certainly not looking at taking on a 'pet project' other than finishing the carpeting in the 2B ;)

Appealing to his conscience is a non-starter. He hasn't even been curious enough to check this thread for over 3 days.

I wish you the very best of luck with your SVA tomorrow. Pass or fail you will know that you have approached this in the proper way.

I suspect this car will sell; it is up to £3600 now; when it sells the bidder ID will be made public and whoever the poor sod is will be inundated with messages.

Let's hope Warwick thinks his 'Lotus' is worth a £10,000 reserve ;)

Now £3750 and "The seller has lowered the reserve price" !!!!!!!

I have sent Warwick a PM and have urged him once again to stop this now. Ebay do not seem concerned, or haven't actioned a number of messages that I know have been sent. Warwick has not been on the site for four days now, so may not get my message.

Graham has his lightweight SVA today and I wish him the very best of luck. ;) I have a good feeling that he will get through. I appealed to Warwick to withdraw the car from auction and get it SVA'd. If he wants to leave it registered as a Lotus, so be it (although I don't think we've heard the end of that). At least he would know that the car he sold was safe.

It's not too late to end this Warwick.

I notice there's no highest bidder named. Just Bidder 17. So you can't even direct the prospective buyers to the threads here and locost sites. Coincidence?

My JBA is registered 1988. The MOT says ist registered 1971. Is it worth trying to get free tax?

This is a recent change by ebay to safeguard bidders identities. Nothing sinister about that, happens on all high value auctions now (and all car auctions I think).
