Front Indicator Position

I've got the motorcycle type indicators which came with my kit in August 2002. I was about to fit them to my nosecone last night but stopped for 2 reasons.

1) I don't appear to have any nuts which for the M10 1.25mm pitch of the threads

and, more worryingly,

2) They seem an aweful long way in from the outer extremes of car if the width at the back is taken as the reference point.

Has anyone else mounted identical indicators to mine on their nosecone? What's the requirement for their position?

cheers

Ant

The last copy of the reg's I saw re' front indicators said:

Maximum distance from edge of vehicle 400mm

Minimum separation 500 mm unless width of vehicle is less than 1400 mm

It appears from previous messages that some SVA stations are interpretating edge as maximum vehicle width - in our case across rear wings not front wings.

It's also interesting that the same reg's state the same position requirements for the headlights.

Hi Ant,

mosts SVA stations now test against the widest part of the car.

The indicators must be within 400mm of that.

I ran a tube through the nosecone, fixed it with epoxy

& fixed m/c indicators on the ends, with heat shrink tube covering the nuts.

They come out right under the headlight (pillared 2B)

See the Yahoo site, Photos, BT's B for a clearer picture

Hi.

This would be my advise also.

If the the indicators sit below the centre line of the headlights they are in the correct position.

I think if I built another hood I would make bracket's to hold the indicators in this position mounted on the headlight mounting brackets inplace of extenting the indicator mounting bracket.(hope this makes sense)

Piddy.
