Spare Wheel Hoop

Has anyone tried to or actually removed the spare wheel hoop?

• Can it even be done?
  
• Will it create a week point?
  

If anyones done it it or got any info on the subject then please leave your views/pictures. Would be much appreciated.

GavinC and Kev have removed their one, they used an industrial hand pipe cutter as used for cutting steel conduit. you could just hacksaw it off or use an angle grinder with a cutting disc.

Best doing it before you put the back panel on.

No probs with cutting it off strength wise, it does make your fuel tank a little more vulnerable in a rear end shunt though.

we cut the loop off and moved it further forward so it is vertially hidden by the back panel

 

we have fitted an ally tank rather than the standard one so a good six inches from

 

back panel to tank..
