Oil Smoke

Quick bit of advice needed, I have a 2.0 pinto that is smoking heavily on tick-over when warm, will also smoke on start up and on application of throttle after over-run down hill.

 

So is it shot or is this just valve stem seals, (no comp tester), was going to re-build a new engine over the winter but beginning to think I might have to bring plans forward after todays trip..

Classic inlet valve stem seals. See NWHoodies site for advice on how to change them without taking the head off.

My 2.0l efi did just that, was the stem seals but when sorting them found the cam was well worn out newly aquired recon engine going in next week

Definately top end. I had a Rover years ago which did exactly the same and it was valve related.
