I need a new shock absorber as the thread is cross threaded and a plate is broken off. Any ideas where i can get one from.

Hi Shaun

I am a little confused with your request, You should have a crome shaft that the hub and sliding pillar slide up and down see attached picture. If it is just the thread at the base then as others have said it can be machined off and then drilled and tapped to suit a stud. The plate can be rewelded back onto the tube.

Chenzo - I think you're confused over the parts that make up the front suspension and that's confusing people who are trying to help. Do you need some or all of the bits you've pictured?

 

The shock-absorber isn't in the picture you've attached and it doesn't have any threaded components. The shock-absorbers used were from an Austin Mini so practically any Motor-factors should be able to get them. If not you could try one of the many Mini specialists for special ones (gas filled, adjustable, etc).

I guess that some of you can see is that i kept calling the chrome shaft and the spring the shock. I now no what im talking about, i think!!!! :yahoo: I managed to get the parts that i needed from www.greatbritishsportscars.com.
