Nürburgring Trip 2009

Hi Steve & co. I'd like to add my name to the list of those interested. I've done the 'ring' once before in the hood (see avatar) and it was an interesting experience.

Top tip - make sure you've got really good mirrors, you'll be lucky to hit the ton in a hood (well in mine anyway) and every other car and bike will be coming up behind at an alarming rate and will expect you to give them space. There will be a stack of exotic machinary going past you like you are standing still.

This is a useful document and worth a download if you want to know the correct lines:

http://www.bmw.com/generic/com/en/fascinat...ordschleife.pdf

Sorry I don't know how to make it a link - but cut and paste into the browser. It's a 28page pdf file - but is in English!

But to be honest unless you do a stack of laps you are completely lost after the first few corners - follow the guy in front if he looks like he knows what he is doing - or if you are feeling intimidated follow one of the buses or coaches going round - in my experience, they are usually to be found as you come tanking into the Karussell leading to some very strange lines being taken to avoid them.

I'm going to make a mark in the diary for next July - looking forward to it.

Rod.

Date wise thinking week July 3 rd to 10th.

Thinking of taking the long route with a stopover in France i.e.

The route we've taken has been to use Motorways to Eupen (fairly boring flat contryside that far), and then to take to the A and B roads through Monschau to the ring. They're good fun twisty roads. If you want to take longer over the journey then I'd recommend going south and going through Luxembourg. Lovely steep wooded valleys and good driving roads that are mostly fairly empty.

So plan

If you need a day to get down south to a Port that i.e.;-Saturday 4th

Crossing AM Sunday 5th Over night stay France

Monday 6 th Arrive Ring/Hotel

Tues7th track

Wed 6th track sightseeing trips

Thurs 9th depart

Friday10th Overnight stay France

Sat 11th Home

This leaves Sunday free to return north or a day rest for work Monday

Right the Hotel Wilhelmshöhe has room for us at a cost for each room is either 72,00 Euros daily for 1 or 2 nights and 68,00 Euros daily for 3 nights or more. From Easter, I also have 5 new twin rooms which cost 82,00 Euros daily for 1 or 2 nights or 78,00 Euros daily for 3 nights or more. Our abundant breakfast buffet is included in the quoted price.

We have secure parking space for cars and motorbikes free of charge

Dinner I.e. half board can be added at 13 euro per person per night.

They need 50% up front to book.

So 3 nights at 68 Euros = 204 Euros per room deposit = 104 euro i.e. 51 Euros per person

So round things off call it £50 payee to rhocar as deposit per person I need this asap as need to book rooms. With names etc in party.

Send to me at

Stephen Altwasser PM for address thanks

Stephen
