I have nearly finished stripping my donor and am getting confused about what to do when it come to scrapping the car. Is the following correct:-

Take all identifiable bits off the car, vin plate etc..

Take to scrappy

Dont had over V5 but get receipt (will they need to see V5 for the receipt?)

 

Scrappy said they can do a receipt but need to see V5!

DVLA said to hand over V5 and keep a copy of it for when its time to register the kit!!!! (dont think that will help)

 

Help!!

I know its been covered before but every time I look things seem to be different depending where you live, time of year!!

The problem is that each local DVLA office seems to have it's own ideas about what is the correct procedure - and even then it can change from person to person.

 

Best advice is to go into the DVLA office that you will use for registration and speak to them. Try to get therir response in writing (good luck )

 

I have always managed to get someone to come and take away the shell etc with no paperwork - these guys just scrap the metal and aren't interested in anything else. Keep the original V5 and declare the car SORN. that way you have an original V5 to hand over to the DVLA at registration.

I chopped mine into four bits - classed as scrap metal rather than a car and you get more money for it
