How Hard Can It Be To Get Car Parts

Right then it is coming up to the Hoods MOT time, and I need to find some wheel nuts (long story) however. My first port of call was the local tyre specialists, they just look at me blankly and say have you tried such and such just down the road, off to such and such and guess what

"No, we don't do anything like that here, have you tried such and such down the road"

So anyway next step the local motor factors. One just laughed in my face asking if I was Jonathan Ross and I really wanted some Real Nuts! Another one said "Nope we don't do anything like that" now this second place I am sure is a front for a drugs cartel because I have been in there a few times for things like Accelerator cable, Fan Belt, Brake pads, and each time I get told they don't do anything like that. I even asked them if they sold cakes because I thought I might of walked into a cake shop and not a motor factors. Anyway of the the dreaded Halfrauds, this is how the convo went

Me: Do you do wheel nuts? (showing one from the car)

Goon: We do locking wheel nuts?

Me: I don't want locking wheel nuts, just normal ones.

Goon: We only do locking wheel nuts.

Me: If I bought a set of alloys from you would I get a set 4 sets of locking wheel nuts?

Goon: No only one set.

Me: So you do have normal wheel nuts?!

Goon: No we only do locking wheel nuts!

So next stop the scrappy.... It is not as if I am after an unusual part, I would not mind if I was after an unusual part for an unusual car!!!!!!!

I'm sure Rob's got a full set of spares (don't know why) I'll ask him in a sec now. If not, I know a mate with a sierra off the road which could lend them out.

I take it they're for the hoods standard sierra hubs?

John.

They are ones for alloys seem to have a small diameter with an allen key end to them... will upload a pic.

I just do not believe that most of the companies just did not even bother with them, it was not even ooh we have some but not the ones you want. Am I the only person in the world to need a wheel nut lol

Big thanks to Mike, for letting me borrow some of his to keep the MOT man happy. Plus he did not show his annoyance for me turning up during the rugby.

What was the score again?

Andy, I've got loads of Standard Wheel nuts if you need any, and when I bought my alloys I got sets of nuts with them, from Elite Wheels in Reading.

I also have a son who works for a local motor factor. Give me a ring if your stuck. 07977 45 44 90.

Ahhhh, you're a talented persistant man Jabby.

Can I suggest next week you expand your care in the community research to include Halfolds and Homebase.

I might go into Asda and ask for a Banana, see what reasons they come up with for not having one

Think outside the box a bit Jabby.

Get a Banana, go to the Customer services counter and ask if they have any for Left handed people as the ones you have are all right handed.

Then, ask if they have any Peanut Butter suitable for people with a Nut allergy and finally ask for some dehydrated water in case of drought.

That should keep them busy :)
