Engineering Services

Knock-on

Recommended Posts

Dear fellow Rhocar members.

Thanks to “der management” for permission to inform you of a service being offered.

Southern Kit Cars is a new venture offering bespoke and custom parts for specialist restorers and builders.

However, although this venture is new, the experience and track record behind the operation very comprehensive.

From working in Formula 1, the owner turned his hand to providing high end modifications and engineering services for supercars and heritage Racers. In this time he also assisted in the development of the racing version of the Robin Hood and runs one for Dunsfold race track.

With a full CNC equipped workshop, we are able to manufacture to the highest quality in Aluminium, Steel, Stainless Steel, Acrylic and Plastic.

What we would really like is for Rhocar members to come up with parts that they would want manufactured as run rate items. Obviously, if the items appeal to a broad range of members, we can drive the costs down.

We are also happy to provide bespoke projects where there is a one-off requirement.

Please feel free to contact me at southernkitcars@gmail.com or PM me.

Kind regards

Larry

Wishbones come to mind as a Robin Hood part which would benefit from some R & D.

This is something we are working on as well as a 2B Sliding Pillar coversion kit.

Also things like top hats and decent steering rack clamps. Escort ones are ready and working on Sierra ones.

Anything else?

Aero screen would normally be plastic, just a little plastic wind deflector rather than a full screen.

Something like this?

This one is glass but we can do them in perspex which can be replaced with coloured perspex if necessary.

If you're interested then let me know and I'll work out a price.

Fully adjustable wishbones that don't involve taking the front end apart to adjust castor and camber. Front anti roll bar for the wishbone conversion. Solid replacement for the rubber mounts for rear subframe. to name but a few.................

The wishbones will be fully adjustable and with a rollbar.

I'm not too keen on fitting an anti-rollbar retrospectivly to Robin Hood conversions as we have no control over the quality or performance of these items. Could cause more problems than it fixes ;)

Rear subframe mounts. Bloody good idea and on the list.

I'd like to see any replacement lower wishbone do away with the screw-in ball joint and use a bolt-in type instead. Also it'd be nice if the top wishbone was curved rather than a hard 'V' to give more clearance for the coil springs.
