Radio Problem

have a sony cdx radio cassette player in car, the display has just stopped being lit up. the cd goes in and ejects fine. but unable to play it, radio wont play either. have checked and all fuses and wires are fine, live etc. have tried it in another car and its the same, no display so unable to turn on, etc. but cd goes in and out..... any ideas welcome, is it stuffed? or am i missing something

It may be worth checking and cleaning the contacts on the back of the front removable panel.

I have checked and cleaned the conenctions to the removable front peice, and the ones on the radio itself, all clean,...even cleaned them with meths to make sure... sparkly clean but no display

I have an old CDX 4100 and the LCD display was not too clever so i searched ebay for a replacement which i eventualy obtained for a few quid, it may be worth seeing if you can try another front panel on it before anything else.

if its no good i think i have a cd radio from an old car just sitting in the loft you can have.
