This was the first show I've attended as a new member, it was good to see all the Hoods together, the show was a little bit of a let down in the hall, but what struck me as a new member was what clique the club appears to be. I tried to get myself a mug from the big top but was ignored by the group holding what semmed to be a re-union in the tent. Oh well maybe next time. I did enjoy talking to several people about my car but only One guy was a member who was rebulding his car.

Hi Garry

Sorry you feel that the club is a "clique" because that is one thing we have all tried to avoid.

You will always get guys from the same area sat talking but I, and am sure most, do try to "mix and chat in general.

I spent all weekend talking to complete strangers about a wide range of subjects and must have sold close to 20 mugs.

If you do come to another show, and I hope you will, pease make sure you come and say hello.

This comes from my puter but is echoed by all the committee.

Taken from the other, Stafford thread,

"Hi

Just a note to say thanks to everyone for an awesome weekend!! Second show I have attended and yet again it amazed me that you can sit with people I had never met and be like people who I have known for years.

Entertainment was great, not laughed that much for a long while.

Already looking forward to next year for the start of the show season.

Have Fun, Thanks"

Chris "

this is one of the friendliest clubs out there, made several new "friends" over the weekend, it suprising how many new faces you meet at each show,

im sure if you approach any member of the club we will be more than happy to chat with you,

hi re the clique thing i have to agree reluctantly that it appears to be happening i havent been to a show since stonleigh for this reason . there is a section of the club that seems unaproachable or reluctant to be approachable .

i cant thank ian and his good lady carole enough for the good work they both put towards the weends we all want to enjoy . however the atmosphere at shows has changed for the worse . and i hate having to say this on an open forum but i feel it is the truth . please ian you do a remarkable job and you should be proud .

however something has to be said

it is common knowledge that that there are senior members that i do not get on with and they with me . however

the good of the club should come first and to that end i have not attended shows so as to not create a problem .

however with this report from a new member then something needs to be done , this is not the first i have heard of this clique thing , so it would appear that as a club we need to address the problem .

your thoughts please .

graham

and i thought long and hard re this posting as i know how this may affect the club !"

Hi Garry,

I think it is quite daunting to go up to a load of blokes who all seem to know each other, I felt the same way at the last Stafford show.

But I was camping near the RHOCAR tent and Chris and Ian came up and shook the tent and ordered me an the wife to get stuck into the BBQ grub.

I dont think they would have taken no for an answer.

There are thousands of people milling about and unfortunately not every one get noticed unless you are the direct approach type person (Phil :D )

Send gaz0571 (west mids sec) a pm as your not too far away from Brum and he will sort you out for a meet up, there`s certainly no clique there, and you`ll be made welcome from the off.

See you soon

Andi

I too must agree with Graham. I have been a member of Rhocar for 3 years and apart from Graham and his family and 1 or 2 other members, nobody will talk. Myself and my wife have attended the hog roasts and other get togethers at kit car meetings, but on whole are made to feel unwelcome by certain members.

hi andy

this is prob the best car club bar none . however there is a feeling creaping in that is not healthy.

i dont know what it is or why but its there ?

i have kept quiet for over 6 months re this but i feel its needed for debate ,to revitalise the club .

and yes give gaz a pm he will have the conviction to carry out what he says .

since it is being mentioned,

I have to admit when i went to Stoneleigh in the "banana car" i was fortunate to know the ever friendly Nick and a couple of other yorkies whom i cannot remember names my appologies there, i also met Phil who was a very friendly guy, but, i was made to feel very small when raffle tickets were being handed out to members, Nick mentioned to the person handing them out that i was also a paid up member... all i recieved was a look of disgust a ticket and not even a welcome, infact not one word passed from his mouth to me. I was that *bleep* off by the "who the hell are you look" that it was the first thing i mentioned when i got home to the wife. I actually tried to forget about it when i took the family to the Newark show. As we got to the rohcar stand Nick and phil and a couple of others (the names will come to me) made us feel so welcome, getting my wife and one of sons in their cars, but, as we walked along the RHOCAR stand the "ticket" man walked past again, me being me gave a smile, ticket man gave me the disgruntled up and down look of disgust..... to be honest if it wasn't for my family being at my side i would have said something... possibly rude...

To be honest i am glad others have mentioned things as i would hate for it to be just me thinking something ain't quite right.

Garry, Kevin and Mark, I'm really sorry to hear that you haven't enjoyed your experiences with RHOCaR, we try to do our best, but we are not perfect and unfortunafely it would seem you haven't received the level of service you expected, and I can only apologise for the committee.

As Graham says, this needs debating, so I suggest that we let this topic run, let people add their thoughts if they want to, but keep it civil, don't turn it into a public slanging match, just constructive critisism - where we go wrong, what do we do to change things etc, not my gangs bigger than your gang.

The positions on the committee are elected every year, and if the members don't feel we are representing the best interests of the club there is a mechanism inplace to elect a new committee.

hi

I have been in he club for 6/7 years but same as anything else I thnk that you have to make the effort it works both ways.

I dont think the club is clique - it is a big club and by default you dont see all the same faces for example, I was at Satfford I know about 30 members quite well by being in Le Mans each year but saw non at Stafford but I did speak to some guys I didnt know but it can be difficult when there are groups that know each other.

I arrived with a group from Yorkshie never met before but arrnaged to meet, thats how it goes.......

I think it is about networking, it is difficult just at shows but if you go on the trips you make some good friends and have some goos laughs

hi paul

a good observation and we should all think as you do .

mayby some thought in the future re new members and thoes we dont know wont go amiss .

get into convertation with as many members and non members as poss at the shows and meets , at the end of the day we are all hoodies and if its the first show walking into the big top can be a bit daunting , so lets all show a bit of compasion

welcome all the people we dont know as people we want to know for the future .

Short memories here, Steve , I put up for the commitee a while back (my opinion being if you ain't willing to help then don't complain if it ain,t to your liking) didn't even get a reply, but like GDC have keep quite & just enjoyed the valuable info given on this forum. More open-ness is wecome & the club working for the members would be great, which is why I try to raise "difficult" issues by P.M rather than on here; the prop-shaft question is one such case which the commitee should address for our benifit & safety. We must all realise that things can't be right for all the members all the time but I too have felt a them & us attitude at shows & at times on here, best wishes to all, hope this rant helps to produce some clearer air in the future, regards Bob.

As the Bard said "Ay there's the rub" - at the end of 2B or not 2B speech [sorry]

Everyone sits on their hands and then moans afterwards

I think the elected committee and area sect's are doing a good job.

Yes but as in all things , there are some funny people about

Cheers,

Terry
