Hi all

I have been reading about a few disasters with croc type bonnets flying open and I'm beginning to feel a bit concerned about mine. Can anyone suggest some alternative systems. piccies would be nice.

Thanks

All croc type bonnets should have an automatic catch that engages without input from the user just like the bonnet on your everyday tintop. This is in addition to whatever type of user operated catch you fit. Some incidents have been down to the user forgetting to secure the catches, not just the catches coming undone.

When we built our car we welded a length of angle from side to side and fitted the Sierra catch complete.

We therefore have the two catch as per Sierra and the original release lever under the steering column.

Because we have the fixed scuttle we fitted two rubber "over centre" SVA compliant catches to hold the side of the bonnet in place.
