Block Plug For Pinto

has any one out there got a spare coolant drain plug [under no 4 cyl ] for a 200 series block or can any one tell me size and thread form .I need it to carry out a cooling system mod ,can collect if reasonably close [50 miles ] to north notts weekends pref we can talk cars etc ,allposts will be answered regards mowerman

After doing a bit of web searching i came up with this thread inf from Turbosport for Pinto engines.

 

Pinto

Pinto spark plug thread: M18x1.5.

Pinto oil pressure switch: 1/4 NPT (pipe thread).

Pinto alloy sump to engine bolts: M6x18

Pinto alloy sump plug: M12x20.

Pinto block drain: 3/8 NPT

 

HTH and is correct for the block drain plug.

Do you know the TPI for the 3/8" NTP (National Taper Pipe) thread; is it same as or very close to BSP? If it's possible to change thread ( which I did on our CVH block) I can send you a tap & possibly a plug,or do you need a different fitting?

hi mowerman, i think i have a spare one in the garage as im doing the same mod soon. i got a new one with a half inch hose connection.will look tomorrow after work if i remember.

3/8 NPT,(American Standard Pipe Thread Taper ) 18 TPI, Tap drill 37/64, Nominal outside Pipe Dia 0.675"

 

3/8 BSPT , 19 TPI , Major Dia 0.656"

they actuallt did 2 sizes apparently, i have ordered both mick, they are about a pound, could be with me in the morning.

Got both types sat on my desk, Ford are really shocking me with their promt deliverys this week, im working tomorrow if you want to pick them up.
