hi all,ive been looking for a bike engined type 7 kitcar for a while and i looked at 1 today but it has a live rear axle and im wondering if its possible to do a conversion.any help info and links if any are appreciated.

It is possible, I would use the method described in the Chris Gibbs Haynes Roadster book.

 

But your live axle will be narrower than the Sierra so mounting brackets will be outside of the chassis unless you move them in.

And most of the back of the car will need to be removed to make it all fit.

 

There is however absolutelly nothing wrong with the live axle setup in a 7, I would buy the car and use it, plan to change and do the research but in all honesty you will find little noticable difference on the road

The live axle is probably better if you do any track use... IRS will provide more ultimate grip on a bumpy surface though.
