One of the nice things about a zetec install is it just bolts up to the standard sierra type 9 or MT75 gearbox bellhousing.

so theres no intermediate bell housing to be installed? what about mods is it like pinto are there changes to sump or housing to get clearance i dont know but just asking.

hi i have a new zetec from gbs and have been told by them it does need a shorter sump (race line)you can get these from gbs or you could try dunnellengines.com and get a quote ,i have a mt75 box and although i havnt fitted it yet i have aslo been told that there is some cutting from the gear lever support req to fit a zero.

hope this helps

if you are going for a shortened sump then scholar engines do a really great sump for a good price, its around £290. bit cheaper than the raceline alternatives

I'm sure ive seen someone's pics or website showing slice taken out of bellhousing or sump to achieve clearance - the welding was done professionally.

you have to cut a meaty wedge off the starter housing on the bellhousing on the type 9 otherwise it bangs on the chassis or one of the tunnel panels on the passenger side, i cant remember which, also if you keep the origional sump then you will have to hack some of the webbing off the sump to allow you to actually bolt the starter on. if you go for a scholar engines low line sump / race line sump theres no need to cut the origional sump up.

Depends on the chassis it is fitted into. I would have thought if a pinto and type 9 will fit then a zetec and type 9 will too. Sure, you would want a shortened sump on the engine, same as if you fitted almost any other type of engine. There are cheap options here as well. CVH 1800 sump fits, is pressed steel and thus can be easily shortened. Couple of extra bolt holes to drill, mod the pickup pipe add some baffles and job done. If you can weld ally you could mod a silvertop sump. Blacktop sump has lower part in steel so easy shortening job again. Aftermarket short sump from retro ford will save pennies but the raceline one is the bees knees.

There is lots of info on the zetec on this board. Search will fill the gaps in your current info.

What type of car did the zetec come from. Mine is from a pre 95 escort xr3i and the sump is fine in the zero, not been modded and haven't had many clearance problems at all.
