Work in Children & Young Peoples Service now, but have been a quarry manager, road surfacing contractor, dabbled in explosives, ready mixed mortar, worked in a brewery, sold (sorry - tried to sell) weighbridges and bullet-proof screens, delivered milk and taught shot-firing and blast design to Jamaicans and the Irish.

Also a retained crew manager for North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service.

Variety is the spice of life!

Was, many moons ago, a Leyland qualified technition.

Then went to work for Social Services for 13 years dealing with aids (ie equipment before it became a desease) and adaptations for the disabled.

Moved to private sector selling equipment for the disabled over 20 years ago and still doing it, although I now specialise in Moving and Handling people. Support all dangerous sports etc. as they create my customers, wife hates me saying that but it is tongue firmly in cheek!

Trumpton..... as Big Jim would put it!

Watch Commander with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue, just started my 22nd year and in one day, one hour and fifteen minutes I'll only have 107 paydays left to go :D not that I'm counting cos I don't like it, I love my job, but when I got to 20 years I thought oohh only 120 paydays left and have been ticking them off since.

Been a Breathing Apparatus Instructor for the past ten years, that's making sure the Firefighters come safely out of the smoke and flame filled buildings, and also a Road Traffic Collision Instructor, thats how to rescue people from them, not how to cause them.

Before that 7 years as a fabrication engineer, and before that 2 years as a warehouse manager for a supermarket.

7 year in a sales office for ICI then 7 years in Insurance, Last 30 years a ratman(and other pests) - upto 1992 for various companies (but not the one you all think of) then started my own business. Trying to pass the work onto others now so that I can find time to play more. No way an engineer but have been trying to build a working steam loco, 5" guage for about 5 years but I am now distracted by the Sub K. Recently aquired a Moss Roadster (Left in a lock up for about 12 years by the previous owner so needs a complete strip down to the chassis and rebuild - just something extra to play with.)
