having my MOT due at end of june,i thought i would run over my lights yesterday, everything works fine except for when i switch on high beam on my headlights, the left side is fine, but the right side is dim. low beam is fine for both sides. Any ideas???? its a 2.0l sierra ohc wiring loom. thanks

Check earth wire is going to common point of both lamps;if not you have full volts across one filament on dip(or head) & both filaments in series on other switch position;6 volt to each = very dim.

I think there was a funny dip system on a sierra loom where the main beam were connected together via a relay or something to get a dip beam , check the wiring diagrams in Haynes

The left hand headlight has an earth for the bulb whereas the right hand bulb's "earth" (blue/green) comes from the dim/dip relay assembly in the fuse box. Assuming they are still left and right in the kit car then the fault is likely to be in the relay assembly if they have been swapped check for a poor earth in the left hand headlight wiring.
