In case you did not read in the chit-chat section, there has been a massive rise of spam accounts targeting IPB forums (and other forums). I've subsequently had to delete around 100 accounts created this year already, and apologise in advance if one was yours (it's not always 100% easy to identify). I've also added some new measures to see if I can reduce these sign ups as well. Happy new year to you all

Just to show the effect spam has had, here is the last 12 months of website transfers. Mar/Apr are almost nil as we where on the old boards still, then we average out to about 12GB a month. Then Dec Up to 28GB and Jan 33GB (Feb we are at 12GB but only 1/2 way through)

Is it possible to put a mandatory completion field before any one can join the forum ??.

 

This will prove they are human and not automated.

 

Locost have a box to fill in before you can join, just a thought.

 

We did that to stop people completeng the booking form with porn web sites on every "field" line
