Front Brakes

Hi

 

Currently stripping a G plate 2l GLS.

 

My mate has shown some interest in upgrading the brakes, do the brakes below simply bolt onto the upright we have? I am guessig as the discs are probably bigger a new upright may be needed?

A desire for rear discs has also been expressed, is this an easy upgrade from drums?

yes quite simply bolt the brakes to the existing upright i have these brakes on my car

 

the rear conversion is quite simple also just need a bracket to hold the caliper in place easy to make with 5-10mm mild steel or i believe you can buy them i fabricated my own

 

i have used escort cosworth calipers and scorpio rear disks this gives me vented all round well overbraked i know but it was what was availble at the time.

Better check they will fit inside your wheels too.

15s should be safe, just check what wheels the XR4 had.

perhaps should of mentioned that you can get away with 14s
