Rough Running Zetec

Hi folks.

I wonder if anyone can help. I have a new 2L Black Top Zetec with Emerald ECU and Jenvey throttle bodies in my Zero and although it starts up with no problem it runs very rough and lumpy. Checking the exhaust manifold, pipes 2 & 3 are getting hot but 1 & 4 are staying quite cool. The plugs were black when I took them out so it looks like it's over-fuelling, but I can't see why it isn't firing properly on 1 & 4. I've tried a few different maps but no difference.

Has anyone had the same problem and cured it? Any help would be greatfully received.

Thanks, Bob

I agree with Chutney, you should check your coil pack connection first. You could also check your injector wiring whilst you are at it - IIRC injectors are grounded via an Earth at the Emerald ECU, i.e. you supply a common +12v onto the Ford Zetec rail wiring harness and the ECU drops that to ground at the requisite point in the cycle. So make sure all of your injector earths are connected into the Emerald as well.

HTH?
