After a day & a half stuck indoors watching tele/sleeping/drinking we escaped in Florin for a cruise round Hampshire. Weather was warmish (10*C) dry & brighter in late afternoon, roads were quite enough for a fair bit of heavy right foot the damp surfaces not upsetting Florin (then maybe I'm too slow) 60 odd miles later returned home for dinner/tele/drinks/ kip just as Christmas normally goes.

It's going to be SUNNY tomorrow, so how about a meet folks;we're prepared to do a 100 mile run up to BANBURY so-as to meet members from other areas. Any one else up for a daft run to have a meet & greet with souls we only normally see at Stoneleigh??

Yes well it was a sunny day when we left home, sunny but a tad chilly at 2.6*C A circular route was taken (NO we weren't lost)over Salisbury Plain & roads various to the Collingbournes; on northwards northish) through villages along the Kennet & Avon canal & the sun got slightly damp & sometimes very liquid,we remained dry until forced to stop for traffic lights. Never mind, the heater made us wet & warm so we continued ever northwards in sunshine again to the outskirts of Oxford where we played hunt the pub in several villages,FOUND ONE, that was open & served food;great;parked up & never mind the covers it won't rain whilst we eat we thought. "Aft'noon landlord,2 coffees & a menu please" "Don't do food on a Monday, your coffee will take a while" So no grub, but no mind a hot drink will be good;& it was if required luke-warm; & they had run out of sugar. Comfort stop over we circled Oxford & decided to head for home;in that general direction anyhow as we were now very mindful of the black clouds to the west. Should be O.K thought I, forecast said dry & sunny 'til 3. Had a few showers as we passed though Hungerford & on up the Marlborough Downs where we were hit by a mother & father of a hail storm, a petrol station canopy gave shelter while we played silly beggers fitting the surrey (no hood for us optimists)& we continued at a much slower pace in heavy rain/hail/sleet, a few miles on we were tip-toeing though an 1" or so of white slush & were minutes behind 4 cars in various states of BENT in the hedgerows/ditches.

It continued to rain heavily for the rest of our "Sunny day out" & was concluded with Mo losing the keys to get in to the drive/garage/house. Found after much searching in handbag lining;she really must carry a smaller tool-kit in future. Just slightly damp after our 130mile trip but no other problems; it's supposed to rain tomorrow so glad we went to-day in the sunshine.
