1St Mot

evening all, my car has been on the road 3 yrs now and due its 1st mot, but i dont know when. It passed sva on 9th feb 2009,and was registered on 10th march 2009. which one does the mot start from? ive havent recieved any documents from dvla as to when or do they assume you will take it for mot 3 yrs after it was registered ....err ....or....sva`ed.

Registration date makes sense. After all, mass produced cars are 'made' many, months before they get on the road.

My 2B was SVA'd and passed on 4th May

DVLA Day (for Build Up Inspection) was 21st May - This is the date on the V5 and also the date when the MOT expires.

PS: I wouldn't rely on the DVLA to remind you when the three years are up though, so present for MOT on or before the 10th March would be my advice.

My 3 years were up August 2011, cars been on SORN since and will be MOT'd when I put it back together again probably March/April
