Number Plates

To all who can offer anything towards this, go ahead,

This is the question;

Back in the day, when number plates changed from black and silver, to yellow and black for the rear and white and black for the front, why did we get yellow and white 'backgrounds'?

Is there any significance to this, or was it just to be different? :huh:

If anyone knows, please tell me because i've looked everywhere

cheers,

Morty

? :unsure: ?

Um, I would guess white and black cos they're easiest to read, with yellow for the rear so that it doesn't glare (cos its got a light pointed at it)????

Alternatively, it could just be that the old black and silver ones were made of stamped letters and therefore had contactable sharp edges of a radius of less than 2.5 mm, they went for white and yellow so you would need to buy a matched pair and couldn't photocopy one to make the other?
