Good afternoon everyone,

Job for this weekend is to complete the install of the front infill panels.

What have other people done with theirs - have you folded the bottom edge over or trimmed it so its level with the bottom chassis rail?

- have you fastened it along the bottom edge to the chassis rail or left a gap?

Lots of pictures please so I can way up my options and ensure I have the right tools and materials before I start?

Thanks

Mark

Hi Simon,

Thanks for the pictures.

The zero chassis is different to the 2b. The 2b sort of kinks inward at the front. I will try and post a picture to better explain myself.

Anyone got pictures of their 2B front infill panels? Please.

There's one or two pictures of mine here:

Use thick cardboard as a template and make your mistakes on that first.

I just folded over the bottom edge of my panels so they matched the curvature of the lower tube at the back and the front. They don't come anywhere near the tube in the middle so I just riveted them in a couple of places at the bottom where they did meet. I made the cut-out for the track rods nice and big as I wanted to be able to remove the steering rack without taking the infills off. The rack doesn't pass right through, I can move it across through the left hand side and then lift the right hand end up and out of the chassis.

front side infill panels on 2B..

The nose cone supplied does not fit tight up to the chassis at the front --so I spaced the very front off by about 3/4 " each side. The cut outs in the panels did not fit the chassis. the top square ( rear suspension mount) had to have a chunk taken out of the bottom to make it fit. The bottom wishbone interferes with the panel when the car is jacked up, so slotted at sides and bent in round the chassis tube.

otherwise , just standard Robinhood "adjustments".

As Promised, pictures of the front infill panels temporarily fitted.

As you can see gap between panel and chassis is quite big.

I trimmed and folded mine to get the correct fit then just rivited the joint between infill and side panel and used self tappers to secure the lead edge down the chassis rail, the panel then finds it's own line and no need to secure along the bottom
