Hi I wish to convert my 3a to rear discs I have been offered rear hubs and drive shafts I will obviously need discs and calipers but how is the best way to do this conversion what do I need to do to hand brake etc any help would be most appreciated as I don't want to waste my Money on the hub swing arms and drive shafts if it can't be done or indeed isn't worth it cheers

i did the conversion on my old 2b and all i needed were:

rear calipers off a granada i think

rear discs off a sierra

disc handbrake cable off a sierra

and the adaptor plates which i got off ebay (about 5 years ago)

thats the easiest and probably cheapest way to do it in my opinion

it's probably not worth doing though, the brakes were designed to stop a fully laden sierra so they'll stop a 2b no problem

A recent set of new front calipers on my car showed that the rears are very close to locking up first, until the front pads bedded in, if you fit rear discs there is a good chance you will need a rear brake bias valve or a bias pedal box.

What you are effectively doing is reducing the extra rear braking you have added back to what the drums gave you in the first place.
