I have to say stick with the mainstream manufacturers. You can get DTA, Omex, Emerald mapped almost anywhere without any question. There is still some reluctance to do megasquirt at some rolling roads. MBE seems to be beloved of Westfields but few others. Webber alpha is a pain in the neck as it can only be mapped at Webber specialists and they won't let you have the software.

In 5 years time when EC1 has taken over the world by all means use it but I'm wary of the statement 'Matt is first class when it comes to all things engine control' as it implies a trip to Huntingdon when there are adjustments to make.

There are other people able to map it. I know rs tuning in Leeds also support it, though beyond that you would have to speak to TDF.

There is a member on here with an EC1 on his st170 powered car, will see if I can find the link

I like the Emerald system, dead easy to use, really helpful and they have a lot of different sensors that are supported + its faily reasonably priced and a lot of places can map it. At work we use the Motec system which is amazing and is supported by a lot of really good tuners, but it is really expensive.

I have both Emerald and DTA ECU's. My Firefox which has 1800 K series with motorbike throttle bodies uses the Emerald ECU and the Robin Hood has the DTA S40 ECU. To be honest they are both pretty much the same to use but other than the odd little tweak to cold start maps etc. I have not really touched them since they were mapped on on a rolling road.

I just copied a base map from the web as a starting point that was good enough to get the engine running then took the car to BTEC racing near Oxford to be set up properly on the rolling road.

for me ???

Emerald was a pain in the ass!!! ....... i'm changing the emerald k6 right know ... for a Haltech Sprint 500 ....

maybe in UK the emerald works ok .. because you could call everyday to the factory .. or go to the rolling roads who know the emerald .. but i'm the only customer in latin america!!!!

i used Haltech ... for my other cars .

for a new EFI turbo engine ... my vote is for a Haltech Sport 2000 ... this is the top of the line 3d maps and 32x32 .... but with a sprint 500 ..this is a 3d ecu 16x16 .. (cheaper than a K6 emerald in ebay) will be enought ....

and if you chose Haltech ... go for the new line ... with Volumetric Eficciency ... the Platinum line ...

and forget the numbers!!
