Been on a trip with Westie owners to Applecross peninsula, roads are spectacular and pretty quiet, apart from other people out having a blat. Going over the Belach is pretty amazing. Some good pics from on page 17 onwards. http://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/index.php?/topic/90004-applecross-2012/page__st__255 Applecross campsite with it's huts is a great place to stay and the Applecross Inn food is excellent too!

thanks for the suggestions so far lads, sadjagboy thanks for the link to wscc it has been a good read but has also highlighted how much organisation a trip/expedition will take....... camping would be a torture especially after 200-300 miles in the kit so it'd be b&b's or huts like those in applecross which will obviously add to the expense but who wants to lug tents and camping gear all over the land? Ideally i'd want to do something similar, three nights away with four days driving, trouble is though its 6 hours (~300miles) of boring motorway trundle just to get north of glasgow and into luss where the roads start to get better before they get great.

That's the old real bug of the potential trip, such a long slog up and down on the motorway but then again good progress can be made with an early morning departure to pit stop at scotch corner for breakfast....... anyone got a 10 car lorry transporter sitting doing nothing?
