Selling Help Needed!

Recommended Posts

I'm currently breaking up my Mazda MX5 to use as a donor. I'm trying to sell the unneeded parts on ebay but can't seem to get it working as just an advert as a whole car instead of individual parts :S

Can anyone lend any tips/advice on how to go about selling these parts or any suggestions as to where I can advertise easily?

Cheers

Yeah I've tried to get on the MX5 owners club forums but as you do here, you need to be a member to sell/offer parts plus have 2 months of "active forum use"

Was hoping to find an easy/cheap way to off-load the parts. Looks like ebay will have to do...

aye its finding the personal balance of a few quid membership and a quick sale at a better overall price whilst selling all your tat vs ebay and the cheapskate numpty haggling that comes with it and still being left with stuff

The adverts I have seen have a title such as "Breaking MX5 - most parts available". Start the listing at 99p. In the listing make it clear that the bidding or buy it now is for A WHEEL NUT ONLY and to contact you for other parts. You could say what is NOT available in the listing. Have a search of ebay and you will see what I mean. There are Sierra ones on there at the moment to give you an idea.

Yeah I have seen verious different ways of doing it, was hoping to basically put a single advert up but I can't seem to work ebay the way I want. I think you're right, probably put up a couple of parts and in the listing say other parts are available. Where is the MX5 owner who will just take all of it for a good price??? lol

That Mazda owner is only likely to be a business specialising in them. They will not pay top dollar because they need to be able to sell it on for a profit.

The chances of someone with an MX5 actually needing all the parts you have surplus is fairly minimal - they might well need one or two of the bits but the rest as far as they are concerned is just something that they too will need to get rid of and transport and store until they can get rid.....

If it was easy to offload this type of stuff for good money we would all be breaking cars for a living.

Yeah true, I had a company in Southampton ask me to take it down and they'd give me £300 for it! I told them it's no longer road legal or driveable and they are more than welcome to bring a flatbed truck to pick it up. Haven't heard from them since....

Just gotta make sure I have the space to store the parts until someone needs them. Maybe dent a few MX5's in the local area. Haha!
