Go for a REALY long drive then bin it and get a 2L :D

Actually there's a good book, 'how to power tune ford pinto engins' it's full of teck stuff and you can buy it from most shows. you're looking at lots of money though for engine parts.

I'm faced with the same dilema. But I thought I'd drive the 1.8 for a while and then look to get something special like a zetec or Vauxhall 16v.... Got to build it first though.

If you're stuck with the 1.8, just fit stuff that can be transferred to the 2.0 later.

eg, a good DGV carb or better still a DGAS if you can find one.

A modified cam & followers (eg. FR32 upwards)

Dont get a modified head...they all seem to be for a 2.0 and would result in

low compresison ratio on a 1.8.

HTH bob.

Hi,

Im picking upa 1600 engine in the morning.

The plan is to gas flow the ports, de boss, and put in my flatback valves, and get a Camshaft from Autosprint.

The 1600 can be used on a 1800 block, and gives a 10.5-10.7:1 compression.

The 1600 head gasket can be used - which is cheaper than a 1800 gasket(more common)

Autosprints Stage 2 cam is 270deg and 10.9mm lift, which is gdgd for this compression and rpm, and only costs about £60..!!

will let y'all know, ,

will be taking lots of pics..
