hi I have the s7 mono and I can move the steering wheel up and down about an inch it seems to be what ever the column is attached to under the dash now does anyone know if this part is a bolt on part or is it a mig job ? the column is done up tight to 2 brackets that hang down but theres so many wires etc under there that even laying on my back on the seat I cant quite see whats moving but its deff not the column on the brackets its deff the brackets

Common problem.

 

Now it would be an IVA failure.

 

You will need to strip and re-manufacture some parts to triangulate things a lot better.

If I remember correctly the S7 mono steering column was attached to a bar that went across the car under the dash and was bolted in either side to some returns on the body.

The mounting holes in the column are bigger than the bolts, you can pack these out

On an S3 there was a hoop arangments again flimsy, I ran 2 flat bars bent at 90 degrees either end and bolted throught bulkhead and to the column mountings, this solved the problem.

I then added an adjustable column so I can set height and length easily
