Another Zetec Conversion Thread!

Recommended Posts

Hi and thanks in advance for any help, I'll most probably ask all the usual questions.

Crate blacktop going in a cortina based S7 running DANST ITB's OMEX ECU and custom loom, bolting onto a type 9 box.

So for the questions!!

1. What are the chances of me fitting the engine and keeping the servo? Any tips? Any way I can make this work?

2. Exhaust manifold, I've already had some advice on an option. I'm keen to have the pipe exit the side. I spoke to Richard from GBS and he advised one without flanges but I didn't fully understand what he meant, minus flange so I can cut the pipes down for the correct width?

3. Kit spares engine mount suitable for the s7?

4. What psi fuel pump will I need? I already have a return pipe fitted. (GSXR1000 ITB's)

Thanks!

If it was me i would tap into all four inlet pipes then tee together, Then take a main pipe to the servo, this would stop one cylinder going lean. But in my opinion you do not need a servo if you get your brake cylinder size and fulcrum point correct.

The inlet is being made with a servo pipe in the hope I can fit the lump in with the servo in situ, any pictures of anyone that's managed this. I've read a horror story or two about pedal boxes!

Just been doing some reading up and my plans to simply bolt all this to my existing box might be buggered, I have a 4 speed quaife rocket clubman........ Just read its a 5 speed box I need as the castings are different?? Its a type E that I infact have after reading up, PLEASE advise.

I am trying to fit a 1.8 zetec flywheel to a pinto clutch in a type nine box don't know why a four speed wont fit I would have thought if you use a four speed friction plate change flywheel and pressure plate as the four speed fits pinto and five speed why would casing be different

I think the bellhousing is the same (I wrongly assumed it might be different and after seeing a post saying you can't use a 4 speed). Dead easy to swap if not, as long as the input shaft is infact 1"x23 like I've read it should be then I'll be fine. The only thing I could do with confirming now is if the Type E sits any further forward or backward than the type 9? And just for any reassurance that it will all work!!
