Another Zetec Conversion Thread!

Would it be a good idea to bolt the TB's on now or wait until the lump is in place?

wait you may have to do a fair bit of juggling around and they are something else to get in the way and maybe get damaged.

Next set of fun and games on the conversion, the pedal box. Floor mounted yet no pre drilled mounting points! No fixings or fixing points to mount the cables for the throttle and the clutch to there pedals,

It's an OBP box, anyone got one fitted? Any tips for fixing the cables short of a nice little bow!!

i have an obp pedal box.

not fully fitted yet. but i recommend using a capri clutch cable (cant remember which model, i think i just went for a pinto engined one) as these have an eyelet at the pedal end, which makes attaching it easy.

not sure about accelerator yet, haven't got that far.

I use a clutch cable like thishttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CLUTCH-CABLE-for-FORD-ESCORT-MK-2-MEXICO-1-6-RS2000-QH-Quinton-Hazell-/400607528886?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5d4611c7b6 with a floor mounted pedal box (my pedals are welded to the chassis from the factory-mk indy but no return spring is required)

Thanks guys, I'd bought some cable ends today before I'd seen this I plan to drill a small hole in the throttle pedal and feed the cable through and tie it off with a couple of the ends.

Think I'll have to invest in a new clutch cable and I'll be off and away. I want it all in place while the engine isn't inside to allow me full access.

This method for throttle is ok as its a light resistance cable but beware of future fraying/breakage of the cable! Others will suggest various methods using clevis pins etc etc unless you wear shoes with long laces?

The ally block in this setup up is a good soluton. the nipples on a typical brake cable fit straight in.

Your throttle pedal may also be able to use a twist type spring like the one shown.

IIRC RD sell the ally block separately
