More of a query really?

How have you guys that have screens and wipers waterproofed around them to save all the electrical gubbins in the scuttle from drowning ?

Intrigued really.

Ive been thinking about this for a while and still can't come up with a way of doing it.

Many Thanks as always

Joe

I used mini wipers.

They have a shaped black or chrome plastic wedge that bolts up to the bonnet.

like this.....http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CLASSIC-MINI-STAINLESS-STEEL-WINDSCREEN-WIPER-ARMS-BLADES-TRIM-KIT-Z0364-8-/270846649807

Your biggest worry is the rearmost louvres in the bonnet....they dump water on your feet...on a 2B anyway

I have done the same as Bob. However I bought mine at the kit car show. There are different type out there though as I had to grind mine to the correct angle. for the louvers I found some plastic which I glued underneath to stop water running over feet.

Slightly off topic.

In my youth I used to scuba dive, we dived (unofficially) a flooded quarry which was a well known dumping ground for stolen cars.

We decided to practice lifting objects with air bags and found an escort on its roof in about 15 m of water.

Bags attached and inflated some Wag decided to flick on the hazards as we lifted it to the surface.

They worked still worked!

Hi,

on my 2b i used some bits of rubber a couple of mil thick and some silicone sealant to stick it down. does the job and its not very noticeable as the wiper hides most of it. They are only about 20mm by 25mm oval.

might be able to find pics if you want

around the window at the bottom there is a rubber seal but water still pores in i used a rubber solution just lifted the rubber up slightly with one of those silicon guns and ran it along then pressed down the seal again job done

Don't drive a lot in the rain but when i drove to exeter in Oct it rained quite heavily on the way down. Had to have windscreen wipers on normal speed. With doors on and above 50mph (no roof) i barely got a drop on me.

was quite amazed to be honest. Haven't even siliconed the windscreen rubber seal.

Although i have a separate scuttle/bonnet as i modded the aligator bonnet, so they might be more difficult to seal.

mind you without doors as above it is almost pointless having windscreen wipers :)

done a few mods on my 2B to stop getting wet, best mod, scuttle fitted, now i have to use the heater to keep warm, no more wet knees from the rear louvers just got to fill the gap where the bonnet mid joint goes under the windscreen where at speed a small puddle forms, no leeks around the mini wiper spindles
