Danny, what-ever you do try to ensure your noise level is below the max. permissible at IVA ( 99db) fail that on the day & its go around time & £90 re-test. Is there any-one local to you with a noise meter ( some phones have a db app I believe)

for my iva I rolled up a few of the curly stainless scourers in some chicken wire (was about 9" long) then stuffed it down the pipe before the silencer (GBS one with no cat) passed no probs.

After 200 miles it had all been blown out!!!

On my 1.6 pinto I also used scourers down front end and tack welded three legged thing supplied with kit into front end, however I felt that shift on way to test while climbing steep hill. Tester calculated test should be carried out at 3750 rpm and I had 93db pass. was a pain getting scourers again as it restricted engine.
