Florin's Sump

Florin's sump is getting badly dented; she wears a sump guard but that has been scraped /beaten so many times it now has a patch over the holes worn. So has any-one got a sump, standard or shortened for an 1800 CVH engine 1990 vintage? Or a complete engine for as few pennys as possible ( OAP's rates please)

CVH sumps may be hard to locate, the zetec boys are after them too as they are easier to shorten being all steel and fit the zetec with a little modification.

I've got a Zetec sump (ally and steel parts), with gasket and pick up pipe if you want it to modify.

The steel part of the sump has a dent in it by the sump plug, but it is oil tight.

 

Don't know if it will fit the CVH engine, but you are welcome to it, even if to fabricate a plate for the bottom.

 

FOC, so does that qualify for your OAP rate?

Just thinking about the post from AlfaGTA, if the CVH sump fits the Zetec, then maybe the Zetec sump will fit the CVH?

But as you say, the wisdom of others will confirm.

 

The sump in the garage has Florin's name on it, keep me posted.

Sounds good for a try, don't suppose a sump gasket would be a stiff enough pattern to use for a mod. It's one of those things, not necessary in the immediate future; unless we wear a hole in it.

I seem to recall that the zetec sump has two more bolt holes than the CVH, which was part of the mods required to make it fit a zetec. So you might need to think about blocking the extra holes, plus you may need a different/modified oil pick up pipe to fit the zetec sump

Why not strengthen your own sump Bob 3mm plate for the base and some way up the front and the drain put as low as possible on the side

Cheers for info Steve, wanted to get a "spare" modified & waiting Chris, so that Florin is always ready for the road. Like last Sunday, went out for a 100mile "paddle" in between the storms.
