Rear Number Plate Holder

After a bit of advice please on the rear number plate holder I have made.

See picture attached, I will be fitting a rubber edge on the outside edge but my concern is that the plate will protrude and stick out and may fail the IVA

Any thoughts or comments greatly received.

Why not fit it higher up on the spare wheel? The spare may need a cover as edges of the alloy wheel may not comply with radius rules of IVA ( ain't life grand??) The same wheels on the road though are O.K. IMO

Didn't even consider the radius of the spare, thanks for that, may just raise the plate for the IVA so it doesn't protrude, and also get a cover

Take spare wheel off fit number plate light to Back panel with sticker pads job done. Fit wheel etc after test why make life hard

I did consider that but thought maybe the holder for the spare wheel may be an issue, or am I being paranoid !!

Just a cloth cover over the spare will solve edge issue

Rear plate should be vertical, as rear panel is not the more picky tester will fail on that

The spare wheel carrier as it is rounded should pass without spare wheel

Thanks for all your suggestions, I think I will go with taking the spare wheel off and mounting the plate holder vertical on the back panel.

Hopefully another step closer

That's how I did mine and it went through the IVA with out a hitch. (in that area anyway!)

.....Just to add my two-peneth, - my set-up on my Exmo was the same as yours, all I did was to buy a cheap spare-wheel cover off of e-bay & that took care of the tyre radius, - as for the number plate bracket, mine was in the same place as yours, BUT cut it about 10mm shorter than the number plate ( so the number plate is longer )....The tester cant fail it as you're not supposed to mess around with number plates!! --- Mine passed IVA last year!
