Windscreen Wiper Spindle Thread Size?

As per the title. I dont suppose anyone knows the thread size for the spindles as supplied with the superspec kit by any chance. Think its a sierra wiper motor but im not too sure?

if its sierra it looks like 8mm to me..... i have the one from my donor still sitting under the bench

nice taa. what about the pitch of the thread itself? somebody told me it was a very odd size and pitch but couldn't tell me anymore?

pretty sure i use a 13mm spanner when i remove them. not sure if that helps or not.

Hi yer if anyone can shed some light on this il be grateful as I have old shi**y wiper arms on mine cos I can find any new ones that fit. And sierra std arms are about 5in to long.

Yer tried all them and most of the multi fit one at Stonleigh over the yrs. all no good. It's a standard 13 mm nut but strange taper on spindle

may be easier, to find a reamer of the right pitch (or closeish) then mod a set of arms....... if the arms are ally, they will ream easy enough....

been thinking...... you could make a couple of bosses, 8mm thread down the middle with a round knurled diameter, the same size as a mini/lucas wiper system...... screw them on with a drop of loctite, then use mini arms?

 

i would offer to do them, but not got a knurling tool

if you can weld cut down the sierra ones and weld the return loop back on the end. You can then make short blade type wipers by cutting down/modding some long ones and they just click into the return like on a standard car.

 

You can also give the arms a twist so the blade is touching the windscreen at the correct angle.

Making the arm shorter is the easy bit the trouble I'm finding is the bottom of the arm (with the spring underneath) is to long I would have to screw the blade to the spring holder directly. It just looks ugly
